GOP Candidates Now ‘Dead Even’ With Democrats In Most Competitive House Races

Democrats’ once-cushy advantage in key House races has all but disappeared with just over two weeks to go before November’s crucial midterm elections, a new NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll found.

While the poll found that Democrats still hold a large advantage overall, in districts rated as the most competitive by the nonpartisan Cook Political Report, the parties are now in a dead heat on the question of which one should control Congress.

Whether Democrats indeed are riding a “blue wave” into November remains unclear. Early voting in certain states already has offered positive signs for Democrats. But Republicans can see a silver lining in the latest poll.

Overall, the poll found that 48 percent of registered voters would prefer having Democrats in control of Congress, compared with 41 percent supporting the GOP. That 7-point gap has narrowed from the 12-point gap the Democrats had in September.

The poll also showed President Trump’s approval ratings at their highest yet: 47 percent. The poll showed 49 percent disapprove.

  1. While Fox News isn’t as likely to distort matters as AP (Fox tolerates Trump, AP despises him) — this is based on polling, which has in recent years proven to be unreliable, meaning one can expect either a massive “Blue wave” to give the Democrats the control of Congress, or then again, maybe the Republicans will keep one or both house. Flipping a coin would be just as good a predictor.

  2. B”H, looks pretty good that Republicans will keep the Senate. Maybe even pick up a couple of seats.

    House can go either way.

Daven for both to go Republican! Democrats are crazy & do not share our values.
