Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and a senior White House adviser, joined Sean Hannity Monday night for an exclusive interview.
Kushner, who is married to first daughter Ivanka Trump, discussed his push for criminal justice reform legislation. The bill would encourage prison education and workforce training, and would also reduce the prison terms for some drug crimes.
It would also let thousands imprisoned on crack cocaine offenses to petition for reduced penalties.
Kushner told Hannity the legislation is “very close” to being passed, touting a “very strong bipartisan coalition” of support for the bill.
“This bill will accomplish a lot to make our communities safer,” Kushner said.
“The recidivism rate that we have is way too high, and not doing anything about that is irresponsible. And we’re allowing people to go back to our communities who we can help, and there’s a lot of programs based in red states that we’ve really modeled this off of, so we know that this works.”
