Outgoing Democrat Senator: In Private, Republicans Admit Trump is “NUTS”

Outgoing Missouri Democrat Sen. Claire McCaskill is offering a rather scathing assessment of the Republican Party and President Donald Trump.

McCaskill in November lost her reelection bid to Republican Josh Hawley and will be leaving Washington D.C. in less than two weeks.

In an exit interview with CNN, she said when she speaks privately with Republican senators they tell her how they really feel about Trump.

“Now they’ll tell you, if it’s just the two of you, ‘The guy is nuts, he doesn’t have a grasp of the issues, he’s making rash decisions, he’s not listening to people who know the subject matter,’ ” McCaskill said. “But in public if they go after him, they know they get a primary [challenger], and they know that’s tough.”

“This is a completely different Republican party,” she said. “Now, I think history will judge some of my colleagues harshly that they didn’t stand up to this President at some of the moments where he has been unhinged about particularly the rule of law.”

McCaskill singled out Sen. Lindsey Graham, a Republican from South Carolina, who has at times aligned with Trump: “It’s kind of weird to me, I don’t know what happened with Lindsey.”

“This is Donald Trump’s Republican Party,” she added. “Make no mistake about it.”

“I mean, he’s almost the master of, ‘I’m going to do so much stuff that’s crazy that nobody notices crazy anymore,’” she said.

The senator recalled — with the help of expletives — a surreal moment in October when President Trump welcomed rapper Kanye West to the White House.

“I mean, Kanye West was in the Oval Office [expletive] on live TV,” McCaskill said. “I mean, think about that. That is crazy weird. Can you imagine would have happened if that happened during the Obama years? … The lid would have blown off this place.”

“I think Fox News Channel would have gone up in some kind of spontaneous combustion, had that happened (during the Obama years). But it happens under Trump and it’s like, well, just another day at the office. So there is a numbing that’s gone on, that some of the craziest stuff that he says and does is not as noticeable because there’s so much of it.”

McCaskill also gave her opinion of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), calling him “a very, very political leader.”

“This isn’t somebody who is sitting around at night figuring out how he can move the needle on really important policy issues,” she claimed. “This is someone who is figuring out how he can win elections, beat Dems like me make sure that Republicans like Cory Gardner (Colo.) and Thom Tilllis (N.C.) can hold onto their jobs a few years from now.”

  1. You see, she has no examples of any crazy policy decisions, just that he brought a rapper into the Oval Office. And it is easy to say what Republicans say in private, since it cannot be verified. This lady’s account has as much credibility as the fables the Apostles told about Yoshke.

  2. ” just that he brought a rapper into the Oval Office”

Vs Obama who had Rapper drug dealers in the WH EVERY MONTH.

    She’s a loser.
