Spring Valley: Police Evacuate Yeshiva Noam Elimelech, & Arrest Robber

pd car.gif1:00PM EST: Approximately 30 minutes ago, YWN posted a story (HERE on “News Alerts” Section) regarding an attempted robbery of the RJS Quick Pick Deli on South Central Avenue in Spring Valley, NY. The man had apparently assaulted the store clerk, and attempted to steal the cash register. Numerous PD units had established a perimeter, and a chopper was dispatched. Although there was no weapon displayed, the man was considered to be armed and dangerous.

After a lengthy search of the area, PD units suspected that the suspect was hiding inside Yeshiva Noam Elimelech on South Central Avenue. The entire Yeshiva (Cheder) was ordered to be evacuated, and PD units confirmed that the suspect was in fact inside the school. After a brief confrontation, the man was taken into custody without further incident.

Boruch Hashem, there was no one injured.

  1. It wasn’t in Monsey, it was in Spring Valley. Monsey still keeps its streak of never having any crime comitted in the passt 97 years.

  2. Monsey only has that streak because Monsey really doesn’t exist, it is an unincorporated village, unlike its neighbors.

  3. Why are you making fun? Had he not been caught, this robber would have continued and then you would have complained that why doesn’t the police dept do anything

  4. #3 are u from monsey? if yes , then you should remember the murder that took place in Chai pizza 2 days before pesach 4 years ago.

  5. Perhaps he was loking for a new “Jewish” name, and a place to call home. Monsey / Spring Valley is a great choice as it still fertile ground.
    NO LUCK !!

  6. the chopper was dispatched because of the proximity to the Yeshiva and the danger involved to the children.
