Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law and a White House senior adviser, said he has “no fear” about sending his own children back to school for in-person learning for the upcoming academic year, even as the coronavirus has forced students and staff in some school districts already back in session into quarantine.

“This virus impacts people in different ways,” Kushner said in an interview with “Face the Nation.” “We know a lot more now than we did, and assuming — our school is not opening up five days a week, I wish they were — but we absolutely will be sending our kids back to school, and I have no fear in doing so.”

Kushner and his wife, Ivanka Trump, send their children to a Jewish day school in Washington, according to the New York Times. A fall 2020 reopening plan from the school released in early August said it will be beginning the school year with an off-campus and outdoor model, in which students in grades 1 through 8 will primarily use distance learning for academic instruction, with “regular in-person opportunities for outdoor education and community building.”

  1. Any parent who has no fear about sending his/her children to school in the fall is unfit to be a parent. Maybe kids can go back to school, maybe not, but don’t pretend there is no risk – that is just irresponsible and heartless, not to mention ignorant. But of course we know that Kushner is ignorant.

  2. um It IS YOU who are ignorant IT IS ABUNDANTLY CLEAR THAT THE RISK FROM COVID-19 to healthy children is VIRTUALLY NONEXISTENT it is basically the same as a cold. And is many times less dangerous then the flu. ANd the risks to children from not going back to school are ENORMOUS!!! Children NEED social interaction! Children NEED education (which in most cases does not work well remotely) Children NEED structure! and in many low income minority neighborhoods children rely on schools to provide essential medical and emotional services and are the first line in child abuse prevention. SO anyone who does not take EVERY STOP HUMANLY POSSIBLE to open schools is HEARTLESS. and anyone saying that they oppose opening schools because of children’s safety is a LIAR AND IS FOLLOWING their ULTERIOR MOTIVES OVER THE WELL-BEING OF MILLIONS OF CHILDREN !!!!!!!!!!! NOW that does not mean that all schools should reopen immediately. There IS a potential concern for ADULTS that may get the virus because schools are open. so in places with major community spread it may be impossible to reopen without risking the lives of staff and families (But the risk of covid is NOT a danger to the children) And teachers in schools in areas with low spread that insist schools must stay closed so that they can get away with getting paid to not really do their job from their bedrooms are majorly SELFISH and completely HEARTLESS ( NOTE: I am NOT referring to teachers who are truly medically vulnerable and legitimately scared and would rightfully not go anywhere for any other purpose either. those people absolutely have EVERY right to put their health over the well being of students as Chazal say “chayecha kodmim”- your life comes first)

  3. there is less chance of Corona in NY especially now than before and a less chance of kids getting seriously ill and camps are open why not schools maybe because camps are more outside meaning that you mostly play outside and the activities outside or why not they make the learning outside then. okay Bekitzur it’s not the best but it’s fine and kids do need education as well and zoom isn’t that good for teaching. if you have a regular device you can spazz out and look at the internet and do stuff a kid would do.
