Photos: Second Annual Detroit Bonei Olam Benefit Brunch

bonei olam.jpg(Click HERE for photos) The Second annual  Detroit Bonei Olam Benefit Brunch took place this past Sunday morning, June 1st at the home of Rabbi & Mrs. Bunny Freedman in Oak Park Michigan. Rabbi & Mrs. Freedman are noted Askanim in the Detroit community, and their home is renowned for always being  open for  matters of Torah and Chesed.

Passionate opening remarks was delivered by the (newly appointed) Rosh Va’ad Harabbanim of Detroit, Rav Doniel Neustadt. Rabbi Neustadt spoke about how the more holy something is the more the Yetzer Hora tries to persuade us to not support it! “This is a fact of life” said Rabbi Neustadt, ” People run to support the arts and new parks and stadiums, but holy Mosdos, such as Bonei Olam have to struggle for funding! It is the Yetzer Hora working to keep us from doing the right thing and it’s our job to fight him and do what’s right”.

Following Rabbi Neustadt, the crowd heard from Rabbi Shlomo Bochner, Executive Director of Bonei Olam. Rabbi Bochner  stirred the  hearts of all in attendance with the many  accomplishments of Bonei Olam, but most of all by the many things that could still be accomplished – especially in the field of assisting couples with genetic issues in having healthy children-if the funds were available, and the strong support of all communities across the USA was there.

An extremely large crowd, including Rabbanim, Askanim and other members of the Detroit community- both men and women- attended the event and helped Bonei Olam  celebrate the births of over 1,000 Bonei Olam babies across the world, including many in Detroit.

A delicious milchig buffet prepared by many volunteers from within  the community was served and an inspiring video presentation was shown.
