Brooklyn Borough President Visits Israel

mmk.jpgBorough President Markowitz is in Israel promoting tourism between Brooklyn and the Jewish state, The Brooklyn Paper reports.

The Israeli Ministry of Tourism brought the Beep and Brooklyn’s First Lady, Marty’s wife Jamie, for an expenses paid nine-day tour — a journey Markowitz embraced to foster travel ties.

“This is a working trip to honor Brooklyn’s connection to Israel and reaffirm our support of its goals, as well as to promote tourism between Israel and Brooklyn — encouraging Israelis to visit Brooklyn just as we encourage Brooklyn travelers of every background to consider experiencing the beauty and rich history of Israel,” Markowitz, who paid for his and his wife’s airfare to the holy land, said in a statement.

The junket began on Monday. The packed itinerary included officials visits with the mayors of Haifa, Tel Aviv and Brooklyn’s sister city, Bnei Brak.

When not gladhanding and politicking with the local dignitaries, Markowitz schedule featured visits to popular attractions, such as Massada, the Old City of Jerusalem and various holy sites.

He is scheduled to return to Brooklyn on Tuesday.

  1. New trivia; Who knows who is Brooklyn’s sister city?
Answer: Bnei Brak! Now that is news to me!
I knew that the kedushah came from somewhere.
    What is Lakewood’s sister city?

  2. You Brooklynites have a short memory. Not to long ago Markowitz invited a blacki activist anti semite to Boro Hall in the name of “Diversity”. He also vociferously supports the Arab public school and refused to dicuss it with those who opposed. Some good Jew.

  3. Markowitz also supported Jesse Jackson for president. He now wants to run for mayor and is attempting to establish his Jewish credentials. Jewish New Yorkers should not forget.
