TRAFFIC ALERT – NYC Street Closures For UN General Assembly


traffic.jpgDrivers can expect increased security and many street closures, as more than 100 world leaders begin arriving in NYC this weekend for the United Nations’ General Assembly.

Starting today at 7 a.m., 45th Street will be closed between Lexington and Madison Avenues and 46th Street will be closed between Madison and Park Avenues. Vanderbilt Avenue will also be closed between East 44th and East 46th Streets.

Starting at 7 p.m., First Avenue will be closed from 42nd Street to 48th Street. Also, 44th, 45th and 46th Streets will all be closed between First and Second Avenues.

The tunnel underpass from 41st Street to 48th Street will remain open to passenger cars, but not to trucks and other large vehicles.

Until midnight Thursday, 49th and 50th Streets between Lexington and Park Avenues will be closed.

In addition, trucks and other large vehicles will not be allowed to use Park or Lexington between 48th to 52nd Streets.

President George W. Bush is scheduled to meet with Pakistan’s new president and address the General Assembly Tuesday morning. He will then meet with Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon that evening.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is also set to address the world body – an appearance which will be met by a major anti-Iran rally Monday morning.

  1. i cant understand something it would be so easy to take him out, the cost would be .75 for the bullet instead of billions on a war but no! never learn from the past unbelievable
