Bank Robbery on Avenue J in Flatbush


pd car1.gifThe Valley National Bank located on Avenue J near East 15th Street has just been robbed. The NYPD has called for a Level 1 Mobilization Response, and are looking for a black male, 5’9, wearing a cap and sunglasses. He is approximately 180 pounds, and in his mid 30’s. Sources on the scene confirm to YWN that the man passed a note to the teller, and made off with an unknown amount of cash. There was no “dye pack” in the money given to the man.

It is unknown if there was any weapon displayed.

There have been numerous bank robberies on that street in the past year.

Some of them include:

July 3rd 2008 the Sovereign Bank was held up on Avenue J [reported HERE on YWN]

November 8th 2007 there was a bank robbery on Avenue J and East 13th Street [reported HERE on YWN]

On October 18th 2007 the Washington Mutual Bank on Avenue J & Coney Island Avenue was held up [reported HERE on YWN]

  1. This recent phenomenon of a bank on every corner is great for prospective bank robbers. They can pick and choose and the open customer friendly design sure makes it easy. Seems to be as easy as taking candy from a baby. Do we really need all these banks?

  2. Some banks in England have security shields, i.e. metal plates that shoot up at the touch of a button, blocking the tellers from the outside. Maybe it’s time to implement those here?

  3. americaisover- are you black?! cuz you seem overly paranoid about the mention of race. where i just looked at it as a description- y’know, height, weight, color- you read it as racism. unbeleivable!
