PHOTOS: Massive Fire Rips Through Queens Building


q4a.jpgPHOTO LINK BELOW: The FDNY was on the scene of a four-alarm fire in Queens that started just before noon on Monday. The fast moving fire began on the 2nd floor of a 6-story residential building at 84-70 129th Street, just off of Metropolitan Avenue in the Kew Gardens section of the borough. The fast moving fire moved quickly through the upper floors (3, 4, & 5). Initially there were reports of numerous people trapped, but the FDNY assisted residents in quickly evacuating the structure.

Firefighters gained control over the fire just after 1:00PM.

The FDNY reported that there was a total of 12 injuries, including 2 critical.

It is not yet known how the fire began.
