Feds: No 5th Racketeering Trial For Gotti

gotti.jpgJohn “Junior” Gotti is a free man — for real this time.

The federal government announced Wednesday it will not seek a fifth racketeering trial against the reputed mobster.

Prosecutors in New York issued a one-paragraph statement Wednesday saying they had decided not to seek another trial “in light of the circumstances.”

Gotti has been free on $2 million bail since a jury deadlocked on Dec. 1 after deliberating for 11 days.

In that trial a new judge, new charges, new star witness and a new jury added up to a familiar result — a mistrial for Gotti on racketeering charges. It was thought at the time that it would be his last.

After four trials in five years — all ending in hung juries — for the son of John Gotti, the stylish former head of the Gambino family, both sides seem weary of the fight.

  2. As long as he can bribe or threaten even one member (directly or by threatening or bribing their family) of each jury, he can’t ever be convicted.

If your name is Gotti, they acquit
    If it’s Rubashkin, you sit

The US is really a safer place with Gotti (who BTW is a yid al pi halacha!) out on the streets and SMR behind bars.
