Rav Chaim Ashkenazi, the rav of the Chabad community of Tel Aviv was niftar on motzei shabbos. He was also a maggid shiur and mashpia in the Chabad community in Eretz Yisrael for many many years. He was a brother of HaGaon HaRav Mordechai Shmuel Ashkenazi Shlita, the rav of Kfar Chabad and head of the Chabad Beis Din. It appears he suffered a fatal heart attack on motzei shabbos.

He is survived by his rebbitzin Bruria and his children; Mrs. Leah Halprin from the Krayot; Mrs. Chani Cohen from Netanya; Mrs. Nechama Kedem from Lod; Rav Menachem Mendel from Kfar Chabad; Rav Meir from Nachlat Har-Chabad; Rav Yisrael of Tzfas; Rav Eliezer of Tzfas; Mrs. Libi Trager from Rechovot; Rachaeli, Schneur and Yossi. Sisters of the niftar are Mrs. Malka Wilechansky from Tzfas and Mrs. Esther Twersky of Crown Heights.

The levaya began at noon from Nachlat Binyamin Street in Tel Aviv, passing Shichun Chabad in Lod and then to Shichun Chabad in Yerushalayim. The children are sitting shiva in the home of the niftar in Tel Aviv. HaRav Mordechai Shlita is sitting shiva in his home in Kfar Chabad.
