Fleet Week Kicks Off In NYC

All eyes are on the Hudson River today as the 23rd annual Fleet Week gets underway.

The Parade of Ships is making its way up the river this morning to officially kick off the festivities.

All 11 participating ships head north to the George Washington Bridge, before turning and sailing back to the piers, where they will spend their week in the city.

An 11-gun salute is also being performed at Fort Hamilton Park in Brooklyn.

Among other Fleet Week activities are athletic events between visiting members of the armed forces, military displays, and a special Memorial Day ceremony at the Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum.
