Rav Shteinman Instructs Driver to Turn Around and Head Home

There was much disappointment among rabbonim and talmidim in the Chevron Yeshiva in Givat Mordechai as they waited for the arrival of the Rosh Yeshiva, HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita on Tuesday night (6 Tishrei), but the Gadol HaDor did not arrive.

The rav’s vehicle was heading to Yerushalayim for the 7:00pm engagement but when the vehicle approached Shar HaGuy, relatively close to the capital, the Rav instructed the driver to turn around and return to Bnei Brak.

The driver, Rabbi Yitzchak Rosenstein inquired as to the Rav’s sudden decision to cancel the event. He was told that the traffic delays were significant and as such, they would not make it in time for the 7:00pm appearance. This would result in throwing off the yeshiva’s entire seder limud, and this is simply too costly a price to pay.

The Rav added that he was not feeling well and was not certain that he was capable to delivering his address. The cars involved in the Rav’s motorcade turned around and notification was made to rabbonim at the yeshiva.

Earlier in the week YWN-Israel reported the Rav was not feeling well, and may cancel scheduled shiurim as a result.

Following the Chevron Yeshiva appearance, Rav Shteinman was planning to make a shiva visit to the mourners of HaGaon HaRav Gedalia Eisman Zatzal in Bayit Vegan and from there, to tefilla at the Kosel.

The tzibur is requested to continue davening for Aaron Yehuda Leib ben Gittel Feige bisoch shar cholei am yisrael.

  1. There seems to be something missing in the story.
Why did the Rosh Yeshiva not continue to be Menachem Ovel and visit the Kosel which should not have affected the ‘Seder Ha’Yeshiva’.

I’m afraid that he simply just wasn’t feeling up to it. Period. He should have a refuah shleimo.

  2. He will recover stronger and better than before. This man is not of this world and was promised by a great godol to personally greet Moshiach.
