Atzeres Tefilla To Save Givat Assaf

An atzeres tefilla is scheduled to take place on Friday, 29 Tishrei, erev Rosh Chodesh Mar Cheshvan, at 15:00 in the Shomron community of Givat Assaf, a community established in memory of an Ofrah resident murdered by terrorists in 2001.

While Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and his administration have succeeded in diverting national attention for a limited period of time, primarily with the Shalit and Grapel prisoner release deals, it appears that behind the scenes the plans to dismantle additional Jewish communities in Yehuda and Shomron have been advancing. The current administration has already destroyed a number of homes in Migron, another Shomron community not too far from Givat Assaf.

In addition to the demolition orders against Givat Assaf, the communities of Nigron, Amona and a neighborhood in Beit El are on the government’s hit list.

Organizers of the atzeres feel it is imperative to show HaKadosh Baruch Hu just how much the people care and love his land, and remain committed to settling it. Rabbonim feel that the time demands sincere tefilos to HaKadosh Baruch Hu.

Settlement officials also warn that Prime Minister Netanyahu’s expulsion plans are most devious, far more comprehensive than the 2005 expulsion from N. Shomron and Gush Katif, with the first stage to include the removal of 3,500 homes.

The call for the atzeres tefilla is signed by many many rabbonim from various yishuvim and prominent Torah leaders affiliated with the dati leumi tzibur.

Sadly, as is the case when the chareidi tzibur hold an atzeres tefilla for one reason or another, the communities seem to remain isolated, disassociated from the other. Many feel that joining forces in tefilla so to speak would have a most profound impact regarding the tefilos heading to Shomayim.

  1. It seems people have not learnt their lesson from gush katif which is not to spiritualise the here and now

Rather to tell the people with free choice bechira chofshis it’s not ok and to implement different sorts of protestations and obstructions

Rather hiding the head in the sky and clouds talking to the divine power when there are tangible responsibilities we are charged with

    11. For this commandment which I command you this day, is not concealed from you, nor is it far away.
    12. It is not in heaven, that you should say, “Who will go up to heaven for us and fetch it for us, to tell [it] to us, so that we can fulfill it?”
    14. Rather,[this] thing is very close to you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can fulfill it.

  2. Aim for achdus.
When demolition begins all communities will feel the pains, remember the words of Arafat/Fatah/Chamas — all Israel is occupied and will be redeemed including Nvei Yaakov, Betar, Efrat, Kiryat Sefer and RAMAT ESHKOL.

  3. Rav Shach was against building settelments. We should not join forces in tefillah to support an enterprise that is wrong and against Da’as Torah!

  4. Shame on Netanyahu for trying to do a Gush Katif again. This is our land, and frankly, the arabs be damned! But aside from anything else, look at Ariel Sharon! Does Netanyahu want to end up like that too??

  5. #3 Too bad you do not understand what Rav Shach said about settlements.
Will you be against the tefillos for the settlements of Betair, Kiryat Sefer and Emanuael also?
