It was a most unpleasant erev Shabbos for residents of Jerusalem’s Shimon HaTzaddik neighborhood, who were attacked with rocks hurled at them by left-wing extremists and Arabs who object to their legal presence in the predominately Arab occupied area of the eastern capital.
The leftists are part of a group calling themselves “Solidarity with Sheikh Jarah” and they regularly carry out protests against the Jews in the community together with local Arabs.
The victim, who was hit in his face, was transported to Shaare Zedek Medical Center, receiving a number of sutures under his right eye. Baruch Hashem, the injuries were no more serious. Doctors ruled out any damage to the orbit of the eye or facial nerves.
The Jews who are part of the ongoing effort to reclaim the Jewish capital from Arab occupation are constantly attacked by local Arabs and Israelis who support their cause, to eradicate the Jewish presence from the area.
