Mir Yerushalayim Pays Avreichim in Full!

It is a well known fact that the Mir Yeshiva has been trying to recover from the petira of the rosh yeshiva, HaGaon HaRav Nosson Tzvi Finkel ZT”L, and Israeli media report tonight, Thursday, the eve of 10 Shevat 5772 announce that all debts to avreichim have been paid.

Avreichim were pleasantly surprised to see notices during recent weeks informing them that payments were being made. Some rubbed their eyes in disbelief, but it is true. Yesterday, Wednesday, for the first time in five years, all the monthly stipends were paid in full. Chadrei Chareidim reports one of the talmidim said “there are avreichim and bochrim that received a check for 14,000 NIS, accumulated monies owed over the past five years.

The rosh yeshiva, HaRav Eliezer Yehuda Finkel, the son of the late rosh yeshiva, has been doing his utmost to eradicate all debts. He has dedicated himself to this since his father’s petira and towards achieving this goal, he has been running from place to place collecting towards paying debts.

Some of the bochrim commented “This is the first time the Mir is out of debt. We see the Siyata Dishmaya and it is evident to us the Rosh Yeshiva ZT”L is undoubtedly a meilitz yosher on behalf of the yeshiva”.

  1. gedolim tzaddikim bimissasam yoser mibichayayhem.
    true
how unfortunate that this could not be done before his untimely petira. then the yeshiva would have no debt AND “REB NOSSON TZVI”

  2. To #1. While i have no doubt that your intentions with your post were totally pure, it borderlines on kfira. While all of klal Yisroel feels the loss of a gadol such as Rav Nosson Tzvi Z”tl, debt or no debt Hashem decided that it was his time to leave this world for olam haemes.

  3. The headline is very misleading. While the yungerleit are all paid, which is unbelievable, there remains millions of dollars owed to the Yeshiva’s vendors!
Don’t fool yourselves to think that the Mir doesn’t need our help.
    KEEP ON GIVING!!!

  4. I think that the heading is misleading. Probably the debt to the avreichim was only a small part of their $15 million debt. It is good that this small debt has been paid, but I would imagine that the Yeshiva still has a mountain load of debt to deal with, owing to banks, gemachim, private people who supplied loans.

  5. It is good that the heading has been changed. Instead of stating that the Mir has paid out all its debts, the heading now is accurate.

  6. A lot of the money given out was for Avriechim who have been taking tests every month on 7-10 Blatt. Some have been taking these tests for 3-4 years without getting paid a penny! Mi Kiamcha Yisrael!
