The IDF Chief Rabbinate is getting prepared ahead of Pesach, setting up for the formidable task of kashering the nation’s military for Pesach. 150 members of the military chief rabbinate attended a one-day information seminar in Bayit Vegan, reviewing both Halachos pertinent to preparing for Pesach as well as logistical realities involved in the mammoth mission.
The goal is to kasher all the military’s kitchens in a 48-hour period. This is accomplished by enlisting many reservists assigned to the military’s rabbinate along with hundreds of hesder yeshiva talmidim, with the latter volunteering their time and energy towards preparing the IDF for yomtov.
Generally speaking, the IDF switches over to matzah and Pesach foods a week or so before yomtov to enable the rabbinate to kasher kitchens and bases around the country.
