MK (Ichud HaLeumi) Yaakov Katz has launched a hunger strike today, Sunday, as the homes in Beit Els Ulpana neighborhood appear headed for demolition chas vsholom. Katz, a veteran Yesha leader and resident, is a founder of Beit El as well as Arutz-7.
Katz and others are manning a protest outside the Prime Ministers Office in Yerushalayim, demanding support in Knesset for the bill which will legalize the homes and others like it when voted upon in Knesset on Wednesday, 16 Sivan.
Katz and others realize that if these homes are destroyed, homes that were approved, funded and built by the government, it will create a dangerous precedent that may one day chas vsholom lead to the destruction other homes throughout Yehuda and Shomron. Katz stated the government and Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein did not have a solution for 9,000 homes and 70,000 residents of Yehuda and Shomron are slated for expulsion, a fifth of the total settlement throughout Yehuda and Shomron.
We are not fools added Katz, calling for wide range support for the bill when it is voted upon this Wednesday.
