Lapid Wants to be Housing Minister

In an interview with Channel 10 News, Yair Lapid explains that he wishes to be minister of housing so he can build 150,000 housing units for rentals in the next decade. Regarding the Knesset Finance Committee, he would also like to head that to remove Yahadut HaTorah’s name from the ‘Tabu’ (State land registry) over that committee.

He adds that in Israel today there are two schools of thought, one calling to increase the deficit while the other says “let’s raise taxes”.

“No one is saying let’s cut the size of the government. This too would lower spending without costing taxpayers a dime. We must eliminate the position of minister without portfolio” he exclaimed.

It was only a few weeks ago when Lapid called on Housing Minister (Shas) Ariel Atias to step down, accusing him of manipulating his authority to build housing units that are only attainable by members of the chareidi sector.
