A group of 5th and 6th graders will take a course being given by Jerusalem City Hall to prepare them to become the city’s ambassadors, to assist the many tourists visiting the capital as well as towards bringing the information to residents, their families and others.

The children in selected schools will begin the course in the coming school year towards becoming certified as young tour guides, to direct visitors and residents to heritage sites in the city and other places of interest. A special emphasis will be placed on the different neighborhoods and students will specialize in areas in their own communities.

The course will include information on the various neighborhoods during Bayis Rishon, Bayis Sheini, the 19th Century, British Mandate, War of Independence, Six Day War, and heritage sites. The program will be called “My Neighborhood” and it will be offered in many city schools.
