Former Israeli Ambassador to Belarus Zeev Ben-Aryeh told Maariv on Tuesday, 12 Teves 5773 they are using my name to get at [former Foreign Minister Avigdor] Lieberman. I never asked him to support my candidacy and I am not aware that he did so.
Ben-Aryeh was referring to the prosecutions efforts to bring a more serious criminal indictment against Lieberman, now convinced that Lieberman was involved in bribery, compelling his actions in favor of Ben-Aryehs appointment, as was reported earlier.
Ben-Aryeh calls the ongoing process to take down Lieberman a dirty one and he feels there is nothing truly legitimate going on but there appears to be an agenda.
He called accusations of foul play surrounding the fact that the foreign minister knew him, stating it is quite reasonable for his superior to be familiar with subordinates, in this case, an ambassador to a foreign country.
