Lieberman: Draft Conversion Law Approved by Chief Rabbi

Speaking to Israel Radio on Monday morning 3 Shevat 5773, Yisrael Beitenu leader Avigdor Lieberman expressed his outrage over the Shas election infomercial in which Lieberman’s party is accused of promoting fast track conversions. Lieberman explained that Aryeh Deri has just to look at the Yisrael Beitenu draft proposal to amend the giyur laws and he would see that each page was reviewed by and approved by Chief Sephardi Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar Shlita, explaining “we made aliyah from the FSU because we are interested in perpetuating our Judaism, not to destroy it”, rejecting allegations to the contrary.

Lieberman explained there is no logic to Shas allegations, which are certainly backed in fact, adding that regarding the state giyur, Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef Shlita has also announced they are to be recognized so he questions Shas motives when clearly the program is in line with the rulings of major Halachic authorities.
