  1. I’ll send my dog catcher, you send your Prime Minister.

After all,my dog catcher is way above your Prime Minister, but I’m in a generous mood today.

  2. You don’t negotiate by saying NO to everything and refusing to discuss anything. The chareidim made their own mess and now they will feel the pain.

  3. A the names are counted, there seems to be 10 Dati leumi, two litvishe roshei yeshiva and one chassidic rav. Not exactly a conclave of unity. The chareidi rabbinic establishment still dismisses the dati leumi crowd-to their etrnal loss !

  4. #7- If the Dati Leumi are upset about this, that is earth shattering. If the Dati Leumi join with the Litvish, Hasidic, Sefardic, and the anti-zionists (Edah hareidis) – that is revolutionary.

#8- if the agreement is implemented as Lapid says it will be, then #2 is right — however both Likud and Bayit Yehudi will pay a severe political price and may act to prevent full implementation. If the maximum penalty is loss of government funding, also seen as limiting yeshiva subsidies to veterans – nothing horrible will happen. If they have financial penalties enforced by threat of arrest, loss of civil rights, fines to be paid out of foreign donations, etc. – it’s the same as if people are being throw in prisons.

However such a meeting a sign that the situation is grave.

  5. I have given up long ago to comment on apukerma’s bizarre and idisyoncratic comments but his latest are truly lunacy. How does hw “know’ that they wil lpay a heavy political price/ how does “know” what will happen?
