YWN-Catskill: Aircraft Down In Ellenville – Wurtsboro Area [UPDATED 12:20PM]

12:20PM THURSDAY: A small plane has crashed in Ulster County, Thursday morning, YWN Catskills has learned.

The small aircraft had taken off from Resnick Airport bound for Orange County, and crashed-landed into a tree on Mt Meenagha Rd. The pilot is conscious and has a head injury. Rescue personnel are having difficulty reaching the aircraft, as it is deep in the woods. The NYSP Chopper is on scene assisting, as well as numerous ATV’s on the ground in the woods.

FIRST REPORT 11:20AM: The New York State Police chopper has been dispatched to the Ellenville / Wurtsboro are to assist in searching for  a downed light-aircraft, or glider. The exact location is still unknown.
