TRAFFIC ALERT – Outerbridge Crossing To Be Closed Every Weeknight For Three Months

obcStarting Tuesday, July 9, 2013, through October 2013, The Port Authority of NY & NJ will perform a pavement improvement project on the Outerbridge Crossing to improve traffic safety and driving conditions.

The Outerbridge Crossing will be closed overnight in both directions, Monday to Thursday from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning, and Friday from 11:59 p.m. to 7 a.m. Saturday. The bridge will be open in both directions on Saturday and Sunday nights and holiday weekends.

This is the first of three innovative projects for the bridges connecting Staten Island and New Jersey. Future projects include replacing the Goethals Bridge and the raising of the Bayonne Bridge roadway to allow for larger ships to pass through to our ports.

During the scheduled work, traffic will be diverted to the Goethals Bridge. Call 511 or check www.511NY.org or www.511NJ.org for current traffic information. Visit www.panynj.gov/outerbridgepaving for project details.
