The wider Jewish community has been anticipating the opening of the new Kleinman Family Holocaust Education Center in Boro Park. Spearheaded by the philanthropist Elly Kleinman, the new education centers mission is to present the Jewish experience during the Holocaust in a way that other centers have failed to do, with a special emphasis on the Orthodox Jewish experience. An exciting development in advancing the centers mission is its newly announced choice of Ami Magazine as its media partner.
That partnership will be multifaceted. A weekly column by the director of the Kleinman Center, Rabbi Sholom Friedmann, formerly of Torah UMesorah, will showcase the centers collections and research. Further, periodic articles will act as a print exhibition of the centers artifacts, with the magazine acting as a virtual wing of the Kleinman Center.
The first collaboration in Ami Magazine with the Kleinman Center is in this weeks issue. An in-depth interview with Elly Kleinman examines the genesis and planning of the center, and its focus, mission, and techniques for teaching a new generation about the trials and lessons of the twentieth century churban.
