Knesset Style Solidarity with the Working Class

knessetYisrael Beitenu leader MK Avigdor Lieberman announced that as the economy is compelled to cut spending, and as many households are told they must manage on less, the Members of Knesset must take a pay cut as well. Lieberman explained the lawmakers are representatives of the people, and if the people are going through a difficult time their representatives must do the same. Lieberman suggested a 10% cut, but in reality, the cut that was decided upon is 1%.

Adding Knesset insult to injury, the cut is for a one-year period. Following that year, in 2015, the salaries of MKs will be increased from 2-4%, to be decided at a later date.

  1. Yeah, but it’s still more than the US congress is willing to do here. They pass the stupid Obamacare law, but they’re exempt from it! If it’s so wonderful, they should be the first ones to try it out! They’re all a bunch of hypocrites (and worse).
