WATCH: Shas Posts Video Of HaRav Ovadia: “A Home Of Goyim, Reshaim, V’Kofrim”

Hours before the swearing-in of the Bennett-Lapid government on Sunday, Shas published a video from eight years ago of HaRav Ovadia Yosef, z’tl, speaking against Bayit Yehudi, then led by Naftali Bennett.

In the course of his weekly shiur, Rav Ovadia had said: “There are people who think they’re religious – Mafdal [National Religious Party, precursor of Bayit Yehudi]. Who are these people? They call themselves ‘Bayit Yehudi’ – it’s not a bayit of Jews, it’s a bayit of goyim. They want to uproot the Torah, to establish civil marriage, public transportation on Shabbos. What type of religious people are they? It’s forbidden to call them religious, it’s forbidden to vote for them. Whoever votes for them is kofer the Torah.”

“They’re all reshaim, haters of Torah, hater of mitzvos, sinners and causing others to sin. They want to cause taarovot – instead of the Rabbanut overseeing marriage, they want the Ministry of Religious Affairs to marry people, to establish civil marriage. How can people think they’re religious? There are MKs among them who are kofrim, completely secular. How could anyone support them?”

“Each person will have to give a din v’cheshbon to Hakadosh Baruch Hu. On the Yom HaDin, he’ll be asked how he voted for these reshaim, for these kofrim, so they can uproot Yahadus from Am Yisrael. It’s the same thing as voting for chilonim. Anyone who voted for them will lower their head in shame.”

  1. Deri and other crooked and leaders of Shas are among the biggest losers in this whole transition and any lecture about public morality or integrity to the tzibur from the historically corrupt leadership of shas is an oxymoron. Posting this kind of garbage before the new government even has a chance to organize is indicative is why they and thier potlicial and religious will hopefully themselves remain in the opposition for a long time.

  2. if only us ashkenazim would stand for such mussar & sharp words from our gedolim .. we dont have the sefardy level of emunas tzadikim to accept real musssar- eizehu chochom halomed mekol adam

  3. I would offer a few observations.

    1. There is already Civil Marriage in Israel. It is called Yeduim B’Tzibur. All one needs to do is go to a lawyer and get an affadavit and congratulations you have the same civil rights as any married couple.

    2. We have many non-Jews in this country that are citizens. If one is christian go to the church, if on is moslem go to the Imam. What if one is not religious? What should they do?

    3. There are plenty of supermarkets open on Shabbat. About 3km from my home is an Arab owned market in the Arab city. In Petah Tikvah there are non-kosher super markets that are open on Shabbat. Not sure what this fight is about either.

    4. Tel Aviv already tried transportation on Shabbat. There weren’t enough people who wanted it even with the government subsidiaries so it shut down.

Let’s move on to the fights that are real instead of fighting with Liberman over those that he already won or lost.

Finally, pre-judging Naftali Bennet who is a Kippah wearing Jew based on what some people are projecting upon him, mostly for financial reasons if one listened to their speeches yesterday except for Moshe Gafni (who was amazing) violates about everything the Chofetz Chaim wrote about. Watch our mouths and protest when something real happens.
