Rav Lichtenstein’s Shlita Condition Improving

lichHaGaon HaRav Aaron Lichtenstein Shlita underwent complicated surgery a number of weeks ago after sustaining fractures during a fall.

The 80-year-old leading posek fell in shul in Alon Shvut and after he was having great difficulty ambulating, he was admitted to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital where doctors detected fractured spinal vertebrae.

Last week his rebitzen, Tovah, released a message to talmidim of Yeshivat Har Etzion, thanking them all for the tefilos, love and concern. In her update the rebitzen also praised the medical staff in Hadassah where the rav remains admitted, explaining it will take some time until the rav is capable of returning to his regular schedule.

The rav is expected to begin rehab in the coming days, a difficult lengthy process.

The tzibur is asked to be mispallel for הרב אהרן בן בלומה מתוך שער חולי עם ישראל.

  1. Chachom – do you always refer to Gedolim BaTorah by “nicknames”? Is he your friend?

Halevai you should know as much Torah as Rov Yosef Dov Soloveitchik forgot.

A little respect, by you and the Moderators also!

To answer your question, yes he is.

  2. Reply to No. 2

Yes. He is the son-in-law of Rav YBS. He and his wife are BOTH PhDs….I think he has a doctorate in English lit from Harvard….a great tzadik, talmid chacham and educator. May he have a refuah shelamah.

  3. May he have a refuah shileimah biKarov.

With all due respect, would it not be more accurate to indicate for whom is he is a “leading posek”?

    GeshmakMan:
He prefixed “JB” with “Rabbi” and MO Rabbis seem proud to use their secular names. So why is “Rabbi JB Soloveitchik” any different to you than “Rabbi Norman Lamm”? I don’t see here any issue with chachom’s post and the moderators.

  4. Refuah shelamah.

GeshmakMan: I don’t think there was anything disrespectful. Gadolhadorah (#6) said something similar, and it wasn’t disrespectful either. Be happy.

  5. GeshmakMan — Rabbi “J.B.” Soloveitchik is the name of the late Y.U. R”Y. It is the name he went by during his lifetime and the name his contemporaries called him and referred to him during his lifetime.

It is 100% respectful whether you think so or not.

  6. Geshmak,

Why are you getting all bent out of shape. He was always referred to Rabbi Joseph B Soleveitchik. On his book covers or by the Schools he taught at.

Chochom did not refer to him as just JB, he referred to him as he was referred to commonly by his own Yeshiva.

I think it is you who has an issue.
