Over two hundreds activists, rabbonim and public officials attended a kenos of SOS Israel activists held on Sunday night the eve of 19 Shevat 5774 in Yishuv Ofra in the Binyamin Regional Council district of Shomron.
Heading the kenos were rabbonim, cabinet ministers and deputy ministers. The event was attended by representatives of communities throughout Yehuda and Shomron as well as many NGOs including Women in Green, Prof. for a Strong Israel, and the Land of Israel Legal Forum.
The meeting comes amid growing concerns that Justice Minister Tzipi Livni may make major land concessions to the PA (Palestinian Authority) in ongoing diplomatic talks with PA negotiators. US Secretary of State John Kerry continues to pressure Israel to make concessions to the PA, including handing over the Jordan Valley which would become a part of the future Palestinian state.
Deputy Minister Tzipi Hotevely stated “the signs point to American pressure compelling us to accept a deal that will compromise our security as the defense minister explained. Hotevely added that continued talk of “settlement blocs” is nothing less that acceptance of the plan from left-wingers including former Minister Dr. Yossi Beilin, an architect of the Geneva Initiative. The deputy minister feels the best way to prevent such a deal is via the coalition. “The prime minister must understand that he will not have a party or coalition if he wishes to move ahead with such a plan” she added.
