Rare Letter From Rosh Yeshivas Slabodka: “HaGaon HaRav Hirsch Is Suffering Very Much”

Rosh Yeshivas Slabodka HaGaon HaRav Dov Landua wrote a letter on Monday in which he called to daven for the refuah sheleimah of his fellow Rosh Yeshivah, HaGaon HaRav Moshe Hillel Hirsch, who was diagnosed with a serious illness last month.

“ספר תורה שרוי בצער” – the Rosh Yeshivah began his letter. “Rosh Yeshivas Slabodka HaGaon HaRav Moshe Hillel (ben Mindel) is suffering very much from his illness, which weighs heavily on him in all respects, may Hashem send him a refuah sheleimah quickly.”

“And how great is the obligation to daven, to plead with HaMakom to quickly heal the illness of Rav Rabannan, the light of the generation and the pillar of the world.”

The Rosh Yeshivah added: “And great is the power of tefillah of many to bring a refuah. And we request very very much from Acheinu Beis Yisrael to daven and pour out your heart for Moreinu’s refuah quickly.”

“And Hashem should hear our tefillos and requests, to quickly send a refuah to Moreinu and restore him to his previous good health.”

Following the Rosh Yeshivah’s diagnosis, all the bnei yeshivah accepted upon themselves to learn two halachos a day in Sefer Chofetz Chaim and be mechazeik in Shemiras Halashon as a zechus for his refuah.

The public is asked to daven for the refuah sheleimah of HaGaon HaRav Moshe Hillel ben Mindel b’toch shaar cholei Yisrael.

  1. The Midrash Tanchuma says that if a person does not have a lot of Torah and good deeds on his account, Hashem will still listen and answer his prayers. No Yid should ever say , “what good is my prayer”.
Every single sincere prayer, Hashem will listen and answer, no matter what level you are on. A Yid is a Yid no matter what.
