California: Man Who Killed Frum Doctor To Stand Trial, Judge Rules

gilbA judge has ruled that a 76-year-old man must stand trial in the shooting death of a Southern California doctor in an examination room.

The Orange County Register reports that Superior Court Judge Colleen O’Hara found Wednesday that there was enough evidence to send Stanwood Elkus to trial for murder. He could get life in prison without parole.

Elkus is charged with gunning down urologist Dr. Ronald Gilbert Z”L at a Newport Beach office in 2013, as was reported by YWN.

Elkus’ attorney Colleen O’Hara argued that because he had an appointment with another doctor a few days later, the shooting was not premeditated as prosecutors had alleged.

Neighbors previously told the media that Elkus was upset about a botched surgery done by a different doctor years earlier.
