President Shimon Peres met with US President Barak Obama, his last visit before stepping down from office in the coming weeks.

President Peres told the media that he made a special offer to the US leader, which he was not willing to detail, expressing cautious optimism amid a promise the request to release Pollard would be considered. The Israeli president added “ am not going to say I am optimistic, for then I would be adding to his words”.

Prior to returning home, Mr. Peres will receive the Congressional Gold Medal.
