The IDF Homefront Command reports that beginning tomorrow, Friday 27 Tammuz, the �Personal Message� SMS text system will be operational. It will inform residents of a rocket attack via the mobile phone in the Negev, Beersheva, Yehuda, Ashdod, Beit Shemesh, Jerusalem, Shvelah, Dan, Sharon, Emek Chefer, and Shomron districts despite one�s place of work or residence.

The system has been under development for a number of years. It began operating in Ashdod last week. At present, it is only available for smart phone users and only in Hebrew.
