As election day nears, Republicans and Democrats are in the final stages of their election campaigns.  Republicans are seeking to win the six seats necessary to take control of the Senate, while Democrats hope to retain the Senate for the last two years of President Barack Obama’s term.

This elections holds much political importance being that the President has constantly blamed the Republican held congress for his lack of success in passing his agenda. If the Senate is taken over by Republicans, President Obama will have an even harder time accomplishing all that he set out to do.

In an attempt to help secure victory for the Senate Democrats, Howard Friedman, former president of AIPAC,  is holding an ‘Erev Shabbos’ Fundraiser featuring none other than the President of the USA.

The event will take place this Friday afternoon at 4:00 PM EST and will have various speakers, the most notable of course being the President.

Thinking about attending? if so, get ready to fork over $10,000 per plate. That’s one expensive  plate of potato kugel!

Mr. Friedman lives in the heart of the Baltimore Jewish community and heavy traffic is expected.

Yoni Chesner, a neighbor of Mr. Friedman told YWN, that he will be  making sure to  leave work early to beat the heavy flow of traffic and security detail that will surround the area.

In an interview posted on the JP site Ezra Friedlander CEO of the Friedlander Group,  stated “I know Howard Tzvi Friedman and he’s stellar mentch who goes out of way to be helpful to everyone,”

YWN reached out to Mr. Friedman directly though no comment was  given. It has been confirmed though that Cholent will NOT  be part of the Erev Shabbos menu.

  2. I was living in Baltimore back in the 90s and President Clinton paid a visit. All cars parked on the street got ticketed and towed, supposedly for security reasons. Park your car off street in order to avoid this.

  3. I have to be honest, when I saw in the headline that there were 3 comments I was sure it was going to be people wrongfully lambasting Mr. Friedman. I am very impressed with the comments, and yes, he is a tremendous baal chessed.
For those who are thinking “uch, he’s bringing a liberal president to his house oy vey!” Regardless of what you think of Barack Obama (yes, I feel he is one of the worst presidents ever) it is still quite chashuv to be hosting the President of the US at your home.

On a side note, I really hope Mr. Obama at least gets a private tasting of the Friedman’s cholent before he leaves.

  4. Serious potential for chillul Shabbos due to the traffic. Besides, what kind of Jews eat $10,000 worth of food so close to Shabbos?

  5. This is crazy. Obama is not a friend of Israel. He is a weak president, misguided in all of his policies. All he is good at, is fund raise.

  6. Omg you fools!!!!howard Freidman Does everything with das Torah!!! If a frume person is hosting the president there is a good reason!!! Mr kool aid commenter…. You need to get an education on Jews of Baltimore

  7. Reb Howie is a special individual!! I recently had the great z’chus to stay at his home and his/his wifes hachnosos Orchim was exemplry. I look up to Howie both literally and figuratively!!
Howie, may be you can ask BHO to pardon our friend Jonathan Pollard!! For Pidyon Shivyan alone it will be worth it to take all the flak for having this individual in your home!!

  8. Does a shomer shabbos Jew not have more important things to take care of on Friday after chatzos???? Where is the priority on welcoming the shabbos hamalkah rather than ……………

  9. Freidman, as former president of AIPAC, does not just represent himself. According to AIPAC’s own mission statement, the role of AIPAC is to strengthen, protect and promote the U.S.-Israel relationship in ways that enhance the security of Israel. Obama has constantly done the opposite, whether it was his public snubbing of Netanyahu, his demand for Israel to retreat to the 1948 borders, his immoral decision to continue funding the recently-formed Palestinian Authority government which includes Hamas, a State Department declared terrorist organization, and finally, his negotiations with Iran bent on getting nuclear bombs, which goes against Israel’s (and the world’s) best interests. How any Jew who cares for Israel, especially one who represented AIPAC, can host this Israel-hating president, boggles the mind!
