Rav Dov Lior to Leave Kiryat Arba Chief Rabbi Post After 38 Years

liorAfter 38-years as a resident, Rabbi Dov Lior Shlita, Chief Rabbi of Kiryat Arba, is relocating after informing the city’s religious council that he is stepping down from his post as chief rabbi. Rav Lior became the city’s chief rabbi in 1976. He has also served as rosh yeshiva in Yeshivat Nir, a hesder yeshiva in the city. He serves alongside Rabbi Waldman Shlita.

It appears Rabbi Lior will be moving to the Beit Orot area of the eastern capital to give chizuk to the growing Jewish community there. He is not planning to accept any official post. In Kiryat Arba the search for a successor of the rav is underway.

The rav shlita is known to be a major talmid chacham and a leading posek in the dati leumi community.
