Deri Hasn’t Resigned as Shas Party Leader [Yet]

deriWhile Shas party leader Aryeh Deri resigned from Knesset on Tuesday evening 8 Teves, submitting his letter of resignation to Speaker Yuli Edelstein, he has not resigned from his position of head of the Shas party.

Deri submitted a letter to the party’s Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael but the rabbonim shlita announced they would not accept his resignation, sending a unanimous message of support for him to continue in his leadership role.

The rabbonim on Wednesday morning 9 Teves made their position clear to Deri, that his resignation as party leader is not being accepted. His resignation from Knesset goes into effect on Thursday, 10 Teves at 20:00.

Deri insists his resignation from Knesset and as party leader are not a political spin. Persons in his inner circle are signaling there is a 50/50 chance that he will step down as party leader in the coming days, despite the objections of the rabbonim of the Torah Council.

  1. Hopefully, this convicted felon will disappear from the political scene and we will never again have to deal with these charades. He, along with Maran’s children, have trashed his memory and made a mockery of the notion voters making informed decisions based on their assessment of the policy positions of the parties and candidates.

How about this recent anti democratic style of heads’ of parties’ rules’ devaluing of their party primaries(all of course helpfully called ‘democracy’)so their each party head is a his own sectoral fascist leader ?!

  3. Cute ploy. I wonder if he would resign the Knesset if new elections weren’t around the corner. Has he said he wasn’t running?
