Fire In New Square Home On Shabbos Morning


fireAt about 8:05AM on Shabbos morning, Ramapo police responded to 38 Lincoln Ave. in the Village of New Square for a reported structure fire. Homeowners called Ramapo police through 911 screaming that there was a fire.

Upon arrival, police reported an active structure fire in the apartment of a multiple family dwelling. Hillcrest fire department was on the scene and advised that all occupants of the building had been evacuated.

The fire appears to have started in a 1st floor bathroom and spread into the hallway and an adjacent room.

Hillcrest fire department, under the leadership of Chief Bowers, extinguished the fire and there were no reported injuries at the scene. Spring Hill ambulance and medics were had responded to the scene to stand by. Fire coordinator Gorden Wren was at the scene, along with Rockland County BCI and Orange and Rockland Utilities.

There was extensive damage to the apartment and the couple who was living there will be staying with family due to the damage. The other occupants of the building have not been affected and were able to return to their homes.

The fire is under investigation, however, at this time it does not appear to be suspicious. The cause of the fire is unknown.

  1. Now that all you loshon hora yentas have had your say. I was across the street Shabbos morning in bed sleeping and was woken up that there’s a fire. BH no one was hurt, everybody is OK. Guess kollel guy, you really are a faker.
