Sirens wailed in areas of southern Israel on motzei Shabbos including south of Ashkelon and the Lachish area. Residents of the Ashkelon Coast Regional Council reported hearing explosions. Rocket impacted in open areas, B’chasdei Hashem without resulting in loss of life, injuries or property damage.

The terrorist organization calling itself Sheikh Amar Hadid claimed responsibility for the rocket fire as well as the rocket fire last week.

The IAF during the night targeted terrorists in northern Gaza in response. Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon ordered the closure of the Kerem Shalom and Erez Crossings to Gaza. Humanitarian shipments will be permitted. The reopening of the crossings will be determined based on the security situation.
