Baltimore Surpasses New York City in Homicides for the Year


csnBaltimore has had more killings than New York City this year, and its homicide rate per 100,000 people is greater than New York’s and Chicago’s.

Baltimore has had 212 killings this year. New York has had 208, despite a vast population disparity. New York has 8.2 million residents, while Baltimore has 622,000.

The Baltimore Sun reported Thursday that Baltimore’s homicide rate is 34 killings per 100,000 people, while New York’s is 2.5 per 100,000. Chicago’s rate is 10.4.

Chicago has seen more killings than any other American city this year with 284 homicides to date.

  1. All the more amazing when you realize that half the city is quiet, dull and law abiding — leaving it to a handful of neighborhoods to run up the crime statistics for the whole city. Of course they cheat. They hold demonstrations against the police, and guess what results?
