BREAKING: NYPD Officer Dies While On Duty In Brooklyn


nypdAn NYPD Officer died in the line of duty, Tuesday morning, Breaking911.com is reporting.

The officer who was assigned to the 28 Precinct in the Bronx, died of a cardiac arrest while on duty in Brooklyn.

The officer was apparently bringing an NYPD bicycle to be repaired at the bike shop located in Floyd Bennett Field on Flatbush Avenue, when he suddenly stopped breathing.

FDNY Paramedics rushed him with an NYPD escort to Coney Island Hospital.

Sadly, the officer did not survive and was pronounced dead at 10:53AM.

His name, rank, and age will be released pending family notifications.

There is a Level 1 Mobilization at the hospital as high-ranking NYPD officials including Police Commissioner Bill Bratton as well as NYC Mayor deBlasio are expected to arrive.

In a sad twist, the wake for a fallen NYPD Detective is taking place today.

Services are being held for NYPD Detective Joseph Lemm the Air National Guardsmen who was killed in Afghanistan.

The funeral Mass for Lemm — complete with full police and military honors — is scheduled for Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The wake is being held at St. Anthony of Padua in his hometown of West Harrison on Tuesday.

The body of Lemm, one of the six U.S. troops killed in a suicide attack in Afghanistan last week, was returned to New York Monday.

Lemm received a hero’s welcome at Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh. The 45-year-old Westchester resident was a technical sergeant in the Air Guard’s 105th Base Security Squadron and a 15-year veteran of the NYPD. He was killed last Monday when his patrol was attacked by a suicide bomber outside Bagram Air Base.
