As emergency cabinets in Paris, Britain and Brussels prepare to convene following terror attacks in Brussels this morning, Tuesday, 12 Adar-II, experts are beginning to weigh what will be tomorrow and what changes if any are demanded in light of the latest attacks. One may presume that on the agenda will be the matter of Europe’s open borders, the ability of persons to cross from one country into another without inspection.

The Brussels Airport is in the final stages of evacuation and people have been moved to a village nearby. All flights are canceled as the airport is closed, but airspace remains open to permit other flights in Europe to continue on schedule.

Following the attacks today, Sky News interviewed a number of a counter-terrorism experts and security officials and it appears there are a number of “jihadists” still lose in Europe, hence the threat of additional attacks chas v’sholom is very real.

Europeans are accustomed of traveling freely from one county to another. The same is true in public buildings and the airport which was targeted. Until today, one could enter and leave without being inspected but this may change in response to today’s attacks.

One expert told Sky News that with the enormous number of immigrants in EU nations perhaps the time has come to close borders and begin inspections, lamenting the days of free travel through Europe may be a thing of the past.

For now, a large military force is visible in areas of Brussels, armed with automatic weapons as emergency agencies continue working to remove passengers from the airport.

Brussels officials add mobile phone networks are saturated and most systems have collapsed. Persons are urged to stay off the phone and use social networking to contact friends and family.

  1. Next they’ll consider building a security wall! Eventually Europe will come to realize what Israel had to contend with. But of course we will still be urged to act with constraint.
