Shots Fired From Passing Vehicle Near Karmei Tzur


idfFirst response units were activated on Motzei Shabbos near Karmei Tzur in Gush Etzion following a report of shots fired at the community from a passing vehicle. Two shells were found at the scene.

Security officials began a sweep of the area in search of the vehicle, which fled the scene. B’chasdei Hashem there were no reports of injuries in the attack.

It was later learned the intended victim in the attacks was Mrs. Ruti Gillis, the widow of Dr. Shmuel Gillis, who was murdered on the same road on his way from Hadassah Hospital where he was employed in 2001.

It is reported the IDF first thought the ‘shots’ were fireworks but when spent shells were found on the scene, they realized it was gunfire.

Mrs. Gillis thanked HKBH for being saved in what she calls a “miracle”.
