GRIDLOCK ALERT: Obama In NYC Today

As YWN reported on Wednesday, President Obama is scheduled to visit NYC today. The following traffic info is reported by “Gridlock Sam” from the NY Daily News:

President Obama is scheduled to land at Kennedy Airport about 4 p.m. on Thursday. He’ll take a helicopter to the Wall St. Heliport. About 4:30 p.m., he’ll head up the FDR Drive to 1 Police Plaza to meet with officials from the Police Department to thank them for their efforts in averting a disaster at Times Square. Traffic coming on and off the Brooklyn Bridge is subject to extensive delays and freezes, along with all streets around Police Headquarters, including Centre St. and Park Row. The Battery Tunnel to West St. will be your best bet.

Then Obama will head up the FDR to 42nd St. to First Ave. and on to the St. Regis Hotel at Fifth Ave. and 55th St. to headline a congressional fund-raiser at 6p.m. He is scheduled to depart JFK about 8:30 p.m. A stop in Times Square is possible, so avoid that area, too.

The FDR below 63rd St. in both directions and all avenues in east midtown will be frozen as the President’s motorcade heads to and from the St. Regis. There should be an all-clear signal between 8:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

  1. No brocha is made. He neither has the power to kill nor any honor of a king.
#2 a brocha had been made on the czar.

  2. once upon a time the President could go on a business trip by himself, use public transit, even go shopping — one president even went swiming in the (then unpolluted) Potomac and a journalist stole his clothes and traded them for an interview. Ahh, the good old days.

  3. #1 – I think the bracha/tefila would be…
