Last Minute Efforts in Emanuel Beis Yaakov Case

Former Shas leader Aryeh Deri on Wednesday evening submitted his idea for a compromise agreement in the hope Slonim Chassidus will accept it and avoid the two-week jail terms for the parents involved, jail sentences scheduled to begin tomorrow, June 17th.

Deri proposes that the girls from the ‘chassidi track’ will be in regular classes in compliance with the regulations submitted by Chinuch Atzmai and accepted and approved by the Ministry of Education. Simultaneously, interested parties in Emanuel maintain the right to file a request for a ‘mossad patur’, basically a state recognized school that will not receive state funds.

In the event the mossad patur meets ministry requirements in all areas including education, safety, sanitation, the ministry from its part will do everything possible to expedite processing the request to enable the new school to open its doors for the 5771 school year.

Until such time the new school is approved, girls attending the Beis Yaakov in Emanuel who wish to transfer to different schools will receipt a positive response, permitting them to do so.

In a measure to exhibit genuine good will, the girls in the chassidi track (Ashkenazim) will return to their classrooms and complete the school year, two weeks. The court will be asked to wave fines imposed on parents for their contempt of court.

The agreement concludes that in a showing of camaraderie and friendship accompanied by profound sorry over the pain caused by the actions of both sides, all parties involved are requested to retract their statements publically towards living together harmoniously in the future.

  1. Can someone explain why they should accept the idea of R’ Arye Deri for a ‘mossad patur’ a state recognized school that will not receive state funds rather than a private school and have nothing to do with the state?

  2. #2 as a mossad patur there are many benefits that a school receives. This entire issue has become a burning mess and with slight compromise on both sides it can peacefully end. Slight compromise does not mean that the Chassidish girls will give up even an iota of their chumros.

  3. We are a nation that follows Gedolei Torah. Our leaders are Maran Harav Elyashiv, Maran Shteinman, Hagaon Rav Chaim kanievsky, Rav Moshe Sternbuch, the Slonimer Rebbe, the Gerrer Rebbe, just to name a few of the greatest leaders of our generation. We are small people, we have no place to give our “opinion” of what should or shouldnt happen. that is NOT the Torah way at all. This is one of the greatest chances in the history of the last 60 years to be mekadesh shem shamayim beRabim, to show that Daas Torah rules and not a SECULAR Israeli government or court system that gives Torah no place at all.
all the above and almost every other gadol beyisroel has declared their staunch support of the Emanuel parents and of their representing us, the entire Chareidi community who is only aiming to be Mekadesh Shem Shamayim
3)these gedolim have sent out their chassidim, and I mean chassidim as followers litvish, ashkenazi and yes, even sephardi to collect money on behalf of the parents for they are representing the fight for US ALL, EVEN THOSE OF US IN AMERICA….!!!!!!! THIS IS A FIGHT FOR THE CHINUCH OF OUR CHILDREN
IT IS A FIGHT TO SEE WHO HAS THE FINAL WORD IN THE COUNTRY, THE COURT OR DAAS TORAH

    MI KE’AMCHA YISRAEL
a nation that is ready to walk proudly into prison in order to Do the Will of Hashem and to follow the words of our Leaders.

  4. I personally know some of the families involved. These are parents who are doing this, will be walking up to Prison tomorrow for two weeks, (the ruling as it stand now is both for fathers and mothers to go to prison) solely because they are following what Daas Torah has instructed them to do! No other reason,
and they are doing this with heads held high. Mi Ke’amcha Yisrael. they are following in the footsteps of those who kept shabbos in the cellars in Spain and those who gave thier lives all kidush Hashem
they are representing all of us out there who believe and know that when it comes to Daas Torah there is no compromises. Hashem Hu Ha’elokim and He has the final word.
anyone who heard the cries of Shema Yisrael and Hashem Hu Haelokim that reached the heavens in the courtroom immediately after the Judge’s verdict, can testify to the pure Yiras Shamayim, Yiras Daas Torah and ehrlichkeit of these Slonimer chassidim who make us proud that we are part of this nation.
They have been fighting this case with firmness, not bending to the pressure of secular court to tell us how to be Mechanech our daughters, yet they have done so and are doing so in such a dignified, noble, exalted manner. Anyone who knows the Slonimer Rebbe or his chassidim know that he is never one to be in the news, to like publicity or to take public stands. We all know slonim as a very exalted, refined community of real erlicher pple, true Ovdei Hashem the likes of which are hard to come by. Slonim has always stood out from amongst other sectors in their nobility of spirit, Avodas Hashem and ehrlichkeit, all in a quiet modest manner, no fanfare at all.
How great are You Hashem that these are Your servants.

  5. whereas I feel very bad for people who will be going to jail, maybe they should remember the Kedoshim who stayed in Europe prior to WW11 becasue of Daas Torah that said it was assur to go to America because it was a treif medina. My mothers family stayed in Poland instead of getting out because they listened to their Rebbes and they all died in the ovens of Aushwitz. Daas Torah was wrong then, and it’s wrong now.

  6. I TOO AM FAMILIAR WITH SOME OF THE PARENTS WHO ARE THE FINEST AND MOST REFINED BNEI TORAH.SLONIMER CHASIDIM ARE INSTRUCTED NOT TO PARTICIPATE IN WILD DEMONSTRATIONS , THEY AVOID BEING IN THE NEWS AT ALL COSTS. THEY JUST DESIRE TO LIVE A LIFE OF TORAH AND KEDUSHA. THIS MUST BE A MOST PAINFUL SAGA FOR THE SLONIMER REBBE WHO ONLY IS TAKING THIS DEFIANT PATH FOR HE REALIZES THAT THIS IS A NECESSARY AND HISTORIC STAND AGAINST AN INCREASINGLY ACTIVIST AND ANTI RELIGIOUS HIGH COURT!!!

  7. jackr, Had they gone to America, they, probably, would have gone of the derech and lost their cheilek in Olam HaBa — the shaila was not as simple as you think. I don’t imply, however, that a Rabbi could never be wrong.

  8. When you engage in civil disobedience, you assume the risk of going to jail to adhere to your principles and beliefs. That is what there parents are doing. I happen to believe they are wrong and taking bad advice but i respect their standing up for their beliefs.

  9. I would like to add my two cents. The Malbim says that we learn from Korach that there has never been any other Machlokks in history that both parties are not atleast part in fault. And just like Moshe Rabenu, who was totally in the right tried to make sholom with Korach, Kal Vachomer we should in our Machlokesim. I hope that the correct decision will be made.

  10. Fools,
what is happening is in no way a kiddush hashem. It is pure hillul. A kidush hashem would have been for the slonimers and the sefardim to find a solution together without negociating a humra. You cannot force a humra on anyone, its assour.

instead you have frum ppl taking other frum ppl to secular court and ashkenazim, hassidim marching to jail infront of the cameras. what do you think hilonim understand this or the goyim. pure hillul.
