Protest In Brooklyn Planned For Tonight Against Passengers Of Flotilla

Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) has joined forces with the pro-Israel, international education organization “Stand With Us” to protest the appearance of IHH terrorist Ahmet Faruk Unsal; Viva Palestina organizer Kevin Ovenden; and filmmaker Iara Lee at a gathering in Brooklyn tonight at 7 PM at the House of the Lord Church, 415 Atlantic Avenue between Bond and Nevins Street.

Both Ovenden and Lee were passengers aboard the Mavi Marmara “freedom flotilla” ship which attempted to breach Israel’s blockade of Gaza on May 31. Though it bills itself as a “humanitarian relief fund,” Insani Yardim Vakfi or IHH is actually a radical Islamic, anti-American organization which supports terrorist networks, especially Hamas. IHH played a key role in orchestrating the flotilla and the attack on Israeli soldiers who boarded the Mavi Marmara to inspect the ship’s cargo.

“It is inconceivable to me how the United States let these people into the country given their known ties to terrorism,” said Hikind. “Our only recourse now is to stand together as a community against their vicious lies and hateful propaganda.”

Hikind urges everyone who is concerned about Israel’s safety and future to attend tonight’s protest. “We need to make our voices heard,” Hikind added. “We cannot allow these terrorists to claim a victory over the truth.”

For questions about tonight’s event, please contact the Office of Assemblyman Hikind at 718.853.9616 or the New York City chapter of Stand With Us at 212.398.2524.
