Pakistan: Police Still in Dark Who Kidnapped Jewish American Development Expert

Lahore, Pakistan – A senior police official says investigators still don’t know who kidnapped an American development expert from his home in eastern Pakistan at gunpoint.

Shoaib Khurram said Sunday that police have questioned the men who were guarding Warren Weinstein’s house in the city of Lahore the night he was taken. But the guards, who were overpowered by gunmen before dawn Saturday, did not shed any light on who kidnapped the American.

Weinstein is the Pakistan country director for J.E. Austin Associates, a development contractor that has received millions of dollars from the aid arm of the U.S. government, according to a profile on LinkedIn, a networking website.

Kidnappings for ransom are common in Pakistan, with foreigners being occasional targets.
