Prominent Israeli journalist Rina Mazliach, who is affiliated with Channel 2 News, is calling on fellow professionals to exhibit sensitivity in coverage of the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal – calling on colleagues to consider the plight and feelings of victims of Arab terror and bereaved families.

Mazliach feels that no one will benefit from showing the signs of victory as terrorists are released, even the Israelis who support the deal to bring Shalit home, seeking a measure of professional consideration from members of the press corps.

She simply feels that one needn’t interview terrorists and one should do whatever possible to deprive the released terrorists of a public forum, which they will be seeking. Ignoring this will simply bring more pain, anguish and devastation to the bereaved families throughout Israel.
