Monday News Briefs from Eretz Yisrael


11:10: A firebomb was hurled at border police near Beit Chaggai in the S. Hebron Hills area. No injuries.

12:51: A rollercoaster car flipped in Kibbutz Chafetz Chaim Amusement Park injuring six girls lightly. They were transported to Kaplan Hospital in Rechovot. The injured girls are from a Betar Illit school, ages 14-17.

13:03: A large forestry blaze erupts in the southern Golan Heights. Four firefighting planes dispatched.

** The head of Bnei Akiva in Israel, Danny Hirschberg released a statement “Sitting in the tent of torah without being a partner to sharing the burden is a moral crime”. He boasted that his organization educates its youth to understand the need to undertake its share in carrying the burden as part of its mission. “We recognize the value of torah study and its significance, but this alone is insufficient in exonerating us from the task before us” he concluded.

17:20: An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Seismic scale was reportedly felt from Beersheva to Tiveria. The epicenter was in the Mediterranean about 111km NE of Rhodes. There are no reports of injuries or damage in Israel.

18:15: A women is in critical condition and five others in light or light-to-moderate condition after a bus smashed into another bus on Jerusalem’s Jaffe Street at the Central Bus Station. The critically injured woman was pinned between the buses while the other victims appear to have been in the first bus.

19:18: Rocket fired in the area of Gaza periphery community. No immediate reports of injuries or damage.
